We used to live by the leather bottle, my dad was a hairdresser and often cut the hair of many staff and some actors from the MPS as a boy I used to follow the cameras on location and watch the films being made, my mum used to work as an usherette at the Rialto Cinema in Raynes Park and I got free seatsand pratically lived there, I couldnt wait for the MPS films to be shown and see a launderette turned into a Bank that was being robbed etc, I have many stills from this studio, and it was because of watching MPS at work I became the proud owner of several cinemas over the years, I would love to converse with other people on this small but lively studio, I can be contacted directly e mail themarketshop@hotmail.com or even call me direct on 07969449745 Sam Lavington

I'm very glad now to see that these films are now out on DVD.
Takes me right back to when I used to work at the Merton Park Studios, it was my first job so I used to do all the rotten jobs taken messages, sorting out films the studio they had two big lock up garages at the back full up with off cuts.

I have three original watercolours that I think are from railway puzzles! One is 'The Busy Junction' featured on this site! It is by T.E. North - the signature has been cropped out of the puzzle image! I have another by North of THE SANTA FE and a third by I.TEECE of THE DEVON BELLE.
If anyone has any information on The Santa Fe or Devon Belle jigsaws i would be grateful!

My father, Laurence Bagley painted a number of the pictures used on some of the Good Companion series of jigsaws, usually signed "BAGLEY". I wonder if you know of anyone that has a list of these puzzles with the artists names. Confusingly there is also a GS Bagley (no relative) who painted one or more in the series. I'd appreciate any information as I'd like to catalogue his work.

Hello:

I just wish to congratulate you on having some wonderful stuff on your site especially to do with Merton Park Studios.

My father worked there many times and was involved in a number of films as a camera operator, his name was "Brian Rhodes", I have been looking for some time to see If there are any copies of his old films available on DVD etc but I've had no luck.

I notice you have some film stills, do you sell any of these these or do you know where I could get some copies etc.

Yours sincerely

Tony Rhodes...

I was born in Biormingham, England and i would sit with my Mother (a crazed Paul T.fan) and listen, to Paul, Steve and Sir Graham. Shortly there after i passed an audition for BBC's "Children's Hour" and was given a key to the wonderful world of radio drama. In the studio we had half a car which the sound engineer would open and close the door per the scrpit. When i cam to live in Los Angeles i was driving on the 101 Hollywood Freeway and there on KCRW was Paul Temple, i recorded the shows week after week.
Now we have the new productions of the "missing" series from the late forties and Paul,Steve and Sir Graham exist again. Paul Temple taught me there was a life outside Birmngham with nighclubs, fast cars, and villians. The plots were always the same who is "Jonathan" etc but who cared. Each series was a key to a magical world. I'm very grateful to Francis Durbridge, Howard Marion Crawford,Peter Cooke and of course Majorie Westbury. I'm a disc jockey in Palm Springs now (and once in a while i play "Coronation Scot" but look back on my BBC years with warth and wonder. Thank you Paul Temple.
